Het Vergeten Kind

During the Week of Het Vergeten Kind the foundation draws attention to the lifting of the age limit for children in youth care.👉 Every year, about 3,300 youth in care are placed out of their homes and turn 18. When they reach this age, they are legally considered adults, which means that youth care abruptly stops for many of these vulnerable young people, often still in need of care, precisely because they have had a complex childhood with many problems. Leading up to their 18th birthday is an uncertain period for these young people. What will happen to my regular caregiver? Will I still have a home to live in when I turn 18? Care should only stop when you're ready, not when you turn 18!
